Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 3rd November 1985 I contracted Meningitis. I had been unwell the previous day and a visit to the Doctor revealed nothing more than a common cold. It was terrifying for my mum and dad when my condition deteriorated the following day and my symptoms worsened to include neck stiffness and my eyes turned back into my head.
I was taken to the hospital and a Lumbar Puncture confirmed Meningitis. I was transferred to a specialised children's unit because initially I did not respond to treatment and my parents were told to expect the worst. Myself and my little friend Birt (pictured above) spent a week in the hospital and I am blessed to share with you all that I fully recovered with no disabling after effects.
Last year Aaron Devlin lost his life to Meningitis at the age of 23. Aaron was from the same area as myself and it struck a cord deep within me. So I decided I wanted to raise funds to celebrate Aaron's life and for the Meningitis Now charity #kindofabigdeal
On 3rd November 2016 I am going to shave my head to help raise funds to increase awareness of the disease and to support research in this area.
By contributing you will be helping to raise much needed funds and awareness for Meningitis. You will help save lives
