Story
Those of you who know me well know that I love swimming. I've loved swimming all my life, from learning to backflip into the pool aged 5 on holiday and swimming for my school, to a pre-pandemic 5km swim in Windermere and jumping into the local rivers and lakes whenever I can now.
Being in the water makes me happy. It's that simple. And it makes me feel this way because I've been doing it forever. It's my happy place.
If I'd never had those early opportunities, my happy place would probably be at the bottom of a packet of Tangfastics. While I still love a tangy cola bottle jelly sweet, swimming is much better for me. (And Tangfastics taste even better after a dip.)
I'm doing this because, like Level Water, I believe that everyone should have the chance to fall in love with the water and feel safe there too, regardless of their ability. Please sponsor me so we can help that happen more.
Here's what Level Water has to say about it: "The first splash. The holding your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. The lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day. Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not. At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities.Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water."
