This year i will be competing in my first triathlon at the Lutton Hoo Golf & Spa Hotel, along side 500 other competitors. This fantastic event which is now in its third year has been set up by the Jenson Button Triathlon Trust to raise money for Cancer Research.

The 2014 event will give competitors the chance to race twice, with the preliminary heat consisting of a 300m lake swim, 9km bike ride and 2.5km run. The top performers will then go on to the final (750m swim, 15km bike ride and 2.5km run) with the runners up entering the ‘wooden spoon’ race, completing the preliminary heat a second time.

I am so excited to be taking part in this event although i have to admit doing 2 triathlons in one day is well, slightly scary, but meeting JB himself at the end will probably get me through it ;) I am not aiming to be at the front or get into the top 50, i am taking part for the experience and my second tri of the day will be the same as the first, the wooden spoon race. This will be a massive achievement for me and i will be extremely proud of myself, and i know all my family and friends will be too!

As well as the triathlon i am also running the 10km Race for Life at Victoria Park, Southport on the 8th June. This is a race i enter every year but i normally run the 5km, this year they have introduced the 10km and this is the race i will be completing.

I would like to raise as much as i can for Cancer Research and would love it if i could hit £1000. Any donation amount will be greatly received and i would like to thank everybody that donates.
