Story
2013 was a tragic, life-changing year for the family of Emily Sowden. The sudden loss of a child at any age is devastatingly cruel, but to lose one so young is something that any parent would struggle to comprehend.
Infant Bronchiolitis is a condition which is far more common than we would think, a condition which needs additional funding to purchase the necessary equipment to tackle it... ...equipment which WILL save lives!
With this in mind and to do their bit in raising these much needed funds, a team of 8 "mountaineers" (of which 6 are complete novices), have assembled to take on climbing to the summit of Mont Blanc which, at 4,810 metres above sea level, is the highest in the Alps and the 11th highest in the world!
On the 17th June 2015 the "team" consisting of James Beaumont, Neil Roberts, Jim Turrell, Andy Bylass, Ian McBain, Ross Gardner, Alex Atkinson and Dave Brammer, (Emily's uncle), embark on a climb which throughout history many experienced climbers have failed to complete.
Why are these 8, ordinary guys doing this? They are doing it in aid of the Emily Ffion Trust in memory of Dave's beautiful niece Emily Sowden, who tragically passed away in November 2013 aged just 21 months. The aim of completing this challenge is to raise as much money as possible in Emily's memory to purchase additional, much needed respiratory machines for as many hospitals as possible to help combat infant bronchiolitis, a condition which can be fatal.
So please get behind these brave, every-day guys to help them achieve the target they have set. By kindly donating today, your money will go directly to this fabulous cause. The sooner they reach their fund-raising target, the sooner they will be able to fund the supply of these invaluable machines... ...machines which save lives!! If you have read this far then please go that little bit further and donate what you can.
Donating couldn't be easier... ...or more appreciated - either click on the red "DONATE" button in the top right-hand corner of this page and follow the simple instructions, or alternatively simply text EFMB88 to 70070, followed by the amount you want to donate in £,s... ...and don't forget, (if you're a basic rate taxpayer), to add GIFT AID to whichever donation option you choose, as this increases your donation by a whopping 25% at no extra cost to yourself.
