Help raise money for Emily to walk again!

Help Emily to walk again! · 6 November 2016
In September 2011 at the age of 21, I had a serious car accident that completely changed my life. I suffered a spinal cord injury at T4/5 level which left me paralysed from the chest down.
I spent 5 months in Pinderfields hospital in Wakefield where I learnt the basics of living life as a full time wheelchair user.
When I returned home, reality hit and I had to focus on adapting to life in a wheelchair. Things are still tough even now but you learn to adjust and just have to get on with life as best as you can.
Earlier this year I was given the opportunity to have a test session in a device known as a ReWalk exoskeleton. It's a robotic device that allows me to stand and walk again despite having no sensation or feeling in my legs. I can honestly say it was the most incredible experience. My friends and family who saw me in it just said the smile on my face 'said it all'! The benefits you gain from using it are huge, both mentally and physically. It takes a lot out of you being stuck in a wheelchair but to have the chance to stand up tall and walk is amazing. There are huge health benefits to it too, for example increased muscle mass, improved posture and decrease in body fat and spasms.
The only thing holding me back from having one of these devices to benefit me is the cost. Unfortunately they are very expensive and that is why I am hoping to find the support of donations in order for me to be able to purchase my own ReWalk device and learn to use independently. I cannot describe the feeling of being able to stand and walk again. I never thought this would be possible but now I have had the chance of trialling it, I just don't want to give up.
Thank you so much for reading my story and thank you for any donation you can make.
