Story
On 3rd August, Ben and I will be taking part in Total Warrior - a 10k assault course. We will be running through electrified wires, crawling through muddy filled pipes, climbing over piles of tyres, swinging on monkey bars over a dirty pond whilst running a total of 10k between the obstacles! I'm going to die, so therefore thought it would be a good opportunity to raise some money.
As many of you know, Duchenne Family Support Group (DFSG) is a charity close to my heart. I have grown up with this charity helping me and my family come to terms with the effects of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). For those who don't know what DMD is here is the definition:
DMD is a recessive X-linked form of muscular dystrophy, affecting around 1 in 3,600 boys, which results in muscle degeneration and eventual death.
The DFSG is a national charity run by families for families affected by DMD. It provides a positive national support network of parents, their families and professionals. This charity has helped me personally from such a young age to help understand DMD and come to terms with its progression.
By contributing to this cause we can help more families gain the support they need to give their child the best life they can in the short period of time they have.
