Emily's Avon Gorge 190ft Mega Abseil

Thank you for visiting.
This May marked ten years since my family lost our mum to cancer. I've been sitting here for a while trying to put into words how that felt and what it did to us, but I can't. It just sucked.
Cancer destroys lives and rips families apart. Not only did all of my family lose our mum, but she lost the last few years of her life to a horrible, painful, weakening disease. It ruined her life, then it took her life. And people still have to go through this every day. I
I've always tried to support the work that Cancer Research UK do, because I genuinely believe that it's vital. I want us to beat cancer. I don't want anyone else to go through what my mum went through, or what the rest of my family went through.
So this summer I'm pushing myself to the limit with the Avon Mega Abseil Challenge (read more at http://www.adventure-cafe.com/Adventures/Avon-Mega-Abseil-Challenge). I'm not all that comfortable with heights, but I am a big fan of forcing myself to do things that scare me. This 190ft abseil is going to be a toughy for me, so please show your support by sponsoring me - you'll be donating to a fantastic cause.
FYI - I paid for this abseil out of my own pocket. This isn't one of those things where you have to raise a certain amount of money and get to do the thing for free. I wanted to do the abseil anyway, for personal reasons, and I decided to raise money at the same time since this is a huge thing for me.
