Visiting medieval churches is one of my favourite things to do – especially during a very difficult year on lockdown – but many of these historic sites are in urgent need of care and repair.
Founded in 1957, the Friends of Friendless Churches are a small charity with dozens of volunteers. They look after over fifty(!) churches in England and Wales – restoring their fabric, protecting their treasures, and opening their doors for visitors to enjoy.
Maintaining and repairing historic churches is a considerable financial challenge, and the Friends of Friendless Churches rely entirely on donations and subscriptions.
When the world is a little safer for all of us, my friend and I are doing the Battersea 5K on 5 June (having fallen in love with running again). I'm going to fundraise for the Friends of Friendless Churches because I want to do what I can to ensure that these heritage sites continue to survive, providing places of succour and solace for future generations,
If you could please make a small donation, I would be so grateful. Thank you.
