I dont know if I am crazy, stupid.... or BOTH but I have taken up the challenge to run the Virgin London Marathon in April.
For those of you that know me, you will understand how much completing the London Marathon will mean to me. I remember when I first told people I was doing this; many people laughed in my face and never thought I was being serious.
But look at me know.....
As some of you may be aware, over the last 8 months I have managed to become a shadow of my former self and have started to care a lot more about my health. I have managed to stop smoking, get active and lose just over 3 stone in weight and this has all been done through sheer determination and willpower. So I thought the ultimate achievement on top of all this would be completing the 2013 London marathon.
I found out I was doing the London Marathon in January, at this time I could only just about run 3 miles and even that was a struggle so I knew it was going to have to commit the majority of my time/life to training to ensure that I managed to make it round the gruelling 26.2 mile course. I have been training 5-6 times a week and have really surprised myself with how well I have done so far, so well in fact that I am aiming and should be able to do a sub four hour marathon. Watch out for me at RIO 2016.... J
I am raising money on behalf of Rainforest concern; they are a fantastic charity that helps protect the rainforests. They protect threatened natural habitats, the biodiversity they contain and the indigenous people who still depend on them for their survival. Unfortunately large parts of rainforests are being destroyed due to logging, mining, cattle ranching, oil and dams. This is causing many species to become extinct, habitats to be destroyed, the climate to be altered, food resources to decrease and indigenous people left homeless. All your money donated would be going to a great cause, these charities are often overlooked but the work they do are fantastic.
Many people are unaware of just how vital rainforests are and the issues being caused due to them being destroyed. More information about how Rainforest concern try and resurrect and decrease the impact of these disasters can be found on their website.
I would really appreciate it if you could all dig deep and sponsor me for taking on this massive challenge! I have never done anything like this before; have never been perceived as the sporty type so all your sponsorship/support will be massively appreciated!
Anyone that fancies coming down and cheering me on...PLEASE DO! The more the merrier....
Many thanks to all that sponsor :)
