Story
This year I'm raising money for SSAFA: Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association.
I'm sure you've heard about the good work of other military charities (Help For Heroes, for example) but you may not be aware of SSAFA... therefore I'm doing this primarily to help raise the profile of this fantastic charity, and in addition I hope to raise a few pennies!
SSAFA is a National Armed Forces charity providing lifelong support for our forces (Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force) and their families.
SSAFA is experienced in providing support to those who have served on operations (currently serving and veterans). From coming to terms with a life-changing injury, to understanding and identifying mental health problems or helping families to cope with the loss of a loved one, SSAFA offer a unique range of services for the entire military family.
SSAFA has been there for our servicemen and women, and their families for more than 125 years, through two World Wars and every subsequent conflict involving Britain. To find out more about SSAFA's work visit their website, www.ssafa.org.uk - or ask me! :-)I will proudly run the Chester Half Marathon in my SSAFA running vest on Sunday 18th May 2014, I'd love it if you could show your support... Give a few quid and/or come and cheer me on!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
