We use music and nurturing relationships to improve lives and strengthen communities

Story

Sistema Scotland’s mission is to improve lives and strengthen communities through music and nurturing relationships. Our Big Noise orchestra programmes support children to develop an invaluable range of life skills and experiences including confidence, resilience, pride and aspiration, helping them reach their potential and lead successful and fulfilled lives. Our four established Big Noise programmes support children and young people across four communities: Raploch in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Torry in Aberdeen and Douglas in Dundee.

Last year I struggled with my mental health and had to take a year out of my university course. I started to volunteer for big noise in Raploch during this year out. Big Noise is a truly phenomenal charity and I have seen first hand what it can do for a community like Raploch. They truly do change lives through music. The children and the staff are amazing and have helped me more than they will ever know and I would like to give something back.
