Story
Family Fund provides grants and services to families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Everyday families tell us about how this support has a huge impact on their lives, but we need your help so we can continue to make a difference. Last year, we provided 88,407 grants or services to families throughout the UK, but we want to help more. Our ambition is to provide 150,000 grants and services by 2022, and we need your support to achieve this.
“Our purpose is to improve the lives of low-income families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
Our mission is to provide items and services to all low-income families in the UK raising disabled or seriously ill children, that they could not otherwise afford or access, and that help improve their quality of life, realise their rights, and remove some of the barriers they face.
Our vision is that all families raising disabled or seriously ill children have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as other families.
My story
As many of you know, kickboxing is my home from home. Not only does it keep me fit and healthy while supporting my mind and wellbeing, it also has led to wonderful friendships and a whole kickboxing family.
As part of my 2nd Dan blackbelt, I will be tested across an 8 week period. As part of this, I will be completing a number of tasks:
Task 1 - Action - Actions speak louder than words. Physical fitness is one of the areas I must focus on. I will be aiming to complete: 24 miles running/jogging, 32 miles walking and 48 miles cycling.
Task 2 - Humility - to raise money for a charity. On my final testing day on the 24th October I will be required to complete 1500 kicks and 1500 punches at the end of the day. I am asking to support me in this by donating 1p/ per kick/punch (or as much or as little as you can) to Family Fund to support disabled and seriously ill children, young people and their families, like some who I teach.
Task 3 - Courage - support someone in the community by offering your time.
Task 4 - Skill - this task involves creating a interactive pad drill using all your skill and knowledge learnt on the way to becoming 2nd Dan.
I have been working towards my 2nd Dan blackbelt qualification since I was awarded my 1st Dan blackbelt in kickboxing in April 2019. Covid prevented this from happening sooner, along with a long recovery from injury but I am determined to get through this testing period. Any donation big or small will be hugely appreciated.
Thank you.
