Story
Well so much has changed since I wrote this 18 months ago, a little pandemic, broken ankle and general lockdown bulge. But as of today 18th June the London marathon 2021 is on in just over 15 weeks time. Training is slow, hot and hard since the ankle break then 2nd ankle injury 6 months later. Touch wood the ankle is holding up so training has begun!
Good news is that my running wifey also has a London marathon 2021 place @megan lamb 💗.
So I won’t be running this London marathon to beat a PB or to test myself. I’m going to be running this marathon and thank my lucky stars that I can. I will be thinking about all those who have suffered over the last 18 months, for those who have worked so hard to look after others, for all those who have kept their friends and family safe. I will probably cry 😭 all the way around. I will be thinking about the legend Andy Fuller and how his amazing family have coped over the last 18 months.
So I need to raise even more cash 💵 because these wonderful charities have been amazing and yet their income has been squashed. Please please please donate as much as you can!!!! ❤️
I have watched the London Marathon on the telly since I was a small child and have always wanted to take part. I have tried 13 times to win a place via the ballot and this year I got lucky and secured a place through work. TCS is a London Marathon sponsor and offered a few places to Lloyds. With thanks to my boss who wrote the best
begging letter I got one!
I have run a marathon before, but this was over TEN years ago and before two lovely kids. I won’t be challenging a personal best but running to show my kids that anything is possible, to always keep going and maybe this mum will be a superhero to her kids for a few hours.
Whilst running I will be remembering a dear friend Andy 'the
legend' Fuller. We have run many races together over the years Towpath Tough Ten, Bath Half Marathon, Castle Combe Duathlons, Cambridge Triathlon and many more. He challenged himself with such determination and he had such an amazing drive to succeed or at least beat the person in front of him. However, he always thought that those people running a marathon were slightly bonkers!
Tragically Andy was recently in an accident from which he never regained consciousness. He has an incredible, amazing, beautiful family in Sue, Jessica and James. Winston’s Wish is a charity that supports children through bereavement. Two cuddly toys, a penguin and an elephant, will stay with Andy and identical cuddly toys given to Jessica and James proving an eternal connection to their Dad.
Please, please, please support this charity so they can continue to offer support to children like Jessica and James through the worst thing that could happen in a child’s life.
