I'm running because I lost my mother and my nan to blood cancer.
As I watched them suffer, without complaining, I was struck by how
indiscriminate the illness is and how helpless we remain in so many cases.

I want to run the marathon both to honour their
extraordinary bravery in the face of the cruelest of illnesses and to support the research into the causes and treatment of this cancer made possible by Bloodwise.

I've never run a marathon before. Training has stepped up a gear:
lots of morning, evening runs and longer runs at weekends. My friends are being fantastic and are very forgiving when I crash out and fall asleep on the sofa by 8pm.

I think this is a fantastic opportunity to raise a lot of money for a good cause, and I will be inspired by the incredible courage and dignity shown by my mum and nan right to the end.
