At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for the Alzheimer's society because they do a greatk job doing the much needed work of raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and Dementia.

There are currently 800,000 people in the UK with dementia and even more carers and family members. The worrying thing is that in the years to come more and more people are expected to be living with dementia (1,000,000 by 2021 and 1,700,00 by 2051).

The Alzheimer's Society are leading the way in research towards improving the life of people with dementia and 'pursuing a cure'.

Finally they are raising awareness about the illness as well as providing local support and training for those working with or affected by dementia.

This is just a snippet of what the Alzheimer's Society is doing, please at the very least have  look at their website http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/. It full of loads of information about what they do and more importantly about dementia itself.

Thank you for looking at my page, if you have some spare monies please sponsor me to complete 'The Yorkshire Three Peaks'. I'm doing it with my wife, as herself and her grandad both hold the charity very close to their hearts.
