Story
I am fundraising for a group of Scouts' trip to South Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in Summer 2023!
I am one of seven Scouts from the Woking district who were randomly selected to unite with over 40,000 Scouts from around the world at the next Jamboree. The location of the WSJ changes every time and this one is happening at the site of SaeManGuem in South Korea. The WSJ is an event held every four years, where Scouts come together to interact, learn from each other and take part in
different activities. I am luckily one of 3,420 Scouts (aged 14-17) representing the United Kingdom.
I'm part of Unit 72, one of two groups from the Surrey region. We are participating in different camps, where we learn; key information about the trip, team building exercises, and other important skills. Our group leaders are working really hard together to help us achieve our WSJ goals.
I need to raise £2,000 (£4,000 in total, but the Woking District is generously paying for half of that) to cover attendance, flight costs, equipment hire and more, so donations are a massive help towards my goal. I am also doing lots of fundraising for this event. Since May, another Scout from my group and I have been cleaning our Scouts headquarters every week, which includes scrubbing the toilets, mopping the floors and more.
If we exceed out fundraising goals, the surplus goes to the Woking District Scouts, who can use it for future Scouting events.
