Story
Hello and thanks for taking the time to take a look at my fundraising page!
Having completed two fantastic fundraising challenges while I was volunteering in Guatemala last year, I wanted to keep pushing myself to try new things and continue to raise money for those who really need it, when I returned to the UK. I also wanted to take on another physical challenge, and while there aren't any volcanoes to climb or Caribbean coastlines to kayak to, there is a rather well-known event called the Great North Run right here on my doorstep. It just happens to be the world's most popular half-marathon and has been taking place in my home city since I was 2 years old, so it's about time I finally joined in!
During the week it took for me to decide which charity to support, two people I know were affected by breast cancer diagnoses. It has affected others close to me in the past and, sadly, as one in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it's likely to do so again in the future. So when I read about the pioneering research projects that Breast Cancer Campaign currently fund - around 100 in the UK - my decision was made. How can you argue with supporting innovative, life-saving research into saving and improving lives, by contributing to an organisation who's ultimate aim is to find a cure for breast cancer?
So, if you want to be part of the cure, or even if you just feel like giving me a bit of support for the big day, I'll be ever so grateful for anything, however small, you're prepared to donate. It ALL makes a difference.
Thanks!!
Ella
