As part of my 3 month career break I trekked to Everest Base Camp with Xtreme Everest, a research project (coordinated by the UCL Centre for Altitude, Space and Extreme Environment Medicine) working towards improving outcomes for people who become critically ill. This was their 10 year anniversary expedition and the scientists presented their findings to the Sherpa community on the way.
