Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am soon (8 weeks!) to take part in an UWCB event in Central Milton Keynes, I am doing this to raise awareness and funds in memory of my wonderful father.
The situation begun Christmas 2017, Dad had stomach pains and thought he had pulled a muscle, after much discussion we managed to persuade father to go to the hospital, the day after boxing day he attended and was asked to return mid-january to have an exploratory procedure. Following the procedure we were told he had a rare form of cancer which was already at stage four.
This came as a shock but the next sentence blew me away, they gave my father six months to live. Six months? What? he pulled a muscle right! Wrong, he had a rare form of cancer, from the research I did at the time, I believe the cancerous cyst had grown on the outside of his organ which meant it did not produce the usual proteins which can be picked up early doors via a blood test.
My father did his best and tried to enjoy the last months he had with us all, sadly, the doctors were wrong, in six short weeks he had deteriorated considerably, with matters only getting worse. We supported and comforted Dad as much as possible, my Mum was an angel, caring for a sometimes grumpy husband, knowing this would be her last days with her love.
Two more weeks passed and Dad was getting worse, weaker and was unable to eat. It was clear he was struggling and this horrible disease was spreading. Sadly on the 11th March 2018, my father passed away with his loving wife beside him and his children nearby.
My life has not been the same since that day, sadly this was 9 weeks before my wedding. My father asked us not to cancel the wedding should he pass and he had already asked my eldest son to give me away should he not be able too. My husband and I proceeded with our day, my father although not present in body, he helped us have a wonderful day and I know he smiled upon us from up there.
Since he passed I have been looking for a fitting way to raise awareness and funds in his honour, as he was an avid boxing fan this seems to be a great option ! So please if you are able to do so, do sponsor me to do this crazy task in just 8 short weeks!
Those of you reading this that do know me personally are more than aware that I do not have any calibre of fitness or stamina, (at all, what so ever, literally zilch!) so I really am taking on a real challenge to push myself out of my comfort zone in the hope of raising lots of funds and awareness for a cause very close to my heart.
Wish me luck!
*****The match will take place on Saturday 15th October at Planet Ice, Milton Keynes, you will need to purchase tickets to attend.***** SEE BELOW *****
