Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
On 17th & 18th May 2008 a group of us cycled around the and raised £10,000 for The Barrett's Oesophagus Foundation. This type of cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in , is 5th in the league table of cancer deaths per annum and has a survival rate of only 8%. It claimed the life of one our dear friends - Graham Twort.
His widow, Claire, threw down the gauntlet for us to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) i.e. from the South West tip of to the North East tip of approx 1000 miles (1500km).
This new challenge is once again to raise money for Barrett's Oesophagus but more specifically to raise money for the purchase of a "HALO" radio frequency ablation device, at Southampton Hospital. Barrett's is a precursor to the cancer and if detected and treated, can help to avoid or delay the transition of Barrett's cells into cancer cells.
We have a website set-up detailing the route http://sys.dcl.org.uk and we'd be delighted if anyone wants to come along at any time to show their support. Otherwise, if you donate via this website the charity will receive your money electronically and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate generously and blood, sweat and tears have already been shed in the training and organisation alone!
Very many thanks for your support.
