London 2 Cambridge Challenge 2016 · 2 July 2016 to 3 July 2016 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 2nd and 3rd July I will be taking part in the London 2 Cambridge Challenge, part of Action Challenge who over the past 15 years have been organising charity challenges all over the world, and have so far raised over £50 million for over 400 charities. I will be walking/jogging the full 100 km route from East London to Cambridge for 20-30 hours day and night, not only to push myself further in 2016, but to raise much needed funds in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Cancer is happening right now. Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. Help beat it sooner!
In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive.
Cancer Research UK are developing new tests, surgery and radiotherapy techniques, and cancer drugs. They aim to personalise prevention, screening and treatment and bring benefits to patients sooner.
Cancer Research UK receive no government funding for their research. Their life-saving work relies on the money we all help raise.
Clinical trials are vital for improving cancer treatments and making them available to patients. Cancer Research UK support more than 250 clinical trials across the UK, and their groundbreaking research has saved the lives of many thousands of people in the UK and all over the world.
More than one in five adult cancer patients in the UK take part in a clinical trial – a higher proportion than anywhere else in the world. Last year, more than 27,000 patients joined a clinical study funded by Cancer Research UK, and they support more than six out of 10 of the UK’s child and young adult cancer trials.
The clinical trials cover a wide range of treatments including radiotherapy, immunotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening.
