Story
My Dad, who died in September 2018, spent several summers in the 1990s in Geneva working for the UN Sub-Commission on the Prevention of Discrimination and the Protection of Minorities. As a teenager, I was lucky enough to have holidays there while he did this. This September and October I am aiming to swim 45 miles, the length of Lake Geneva, in memory of my Dad. I hope to raise some money for SAKA, the charity that supports the Sheffield Kidney Institute where my Dad received excellent care and treatment. Thank you for reading my story and for your support.
SAKA exists to help and support all kidney patients in the Sheffield and surrounding area. CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) affects many people, particularly as they get older. Less than 1 in 10 of people with CKD will require dialysis or transplant during their lives.Whatever stage patients are at, SAKA is there to help them, their families, friends and carers.
