Welcome to Elfrida Primary School's JustGiving page, for Mencap's spellathon 2012/2013.

We help raise money for Mencap and Mencap help us spell.

I have entered our children into this amazing spelling competition so they can challenge themselves to spell as many words as they can online, at home or school. Our pupils made a pledge to spell between 20 to 500 words each from now until March 2013, whilst collecting sponsors on the way. During this time, their Hive keeps a tally of the total number of words they spell correctly. They can then become the best speller in their class, or school, maybe the country, or even the world! (How cool would that be...?)    They will get a great sense of achievement from their superb spelling knowledge, as well as impress their teachers & myself with their spelling and dedication. They will also learn spellings they've misspelt.

Then in spellathon week 4th to 10th March, I'll challenge the children to spell a massive 30,000 words correctly in a week.

Your donation will go to a truly amazing charity. Mencap are the voice of learning disability. Everything they do is about supporting people with a learning disability, their families and carers. For example: £10 could mean another family could find the best way to stimulate their child's development by calling Mencap Direct, the Learning Disability Helpline. £20 could pay for one hour employment support for someone with a learning disability looking for work. £100 could pay for someone with a learning disability to receive four hours advocacy support. Any donations would be gratefully received to enable this fantastic charity to continue its life changing work.

Elfrida Primary School will get 25% of donations made. To show appreciation for what the children have achieved, we would hope to get something that will help make it a truly memorable spelling experience that they were proud to be part of.
