Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This page is for my dad, Bill Todd, who died from stomach cancer aged just 69. He was diagnosed in January, and by Easter he was gone. We knew he couldn’t be cured but we thought we’d have a year maybe to say goodbye. The awful thing with cancer is that your loved one and your hopes just fade away before your eyes.
I told my dad I'd do the Three Peaks Challenge to fundraise for Cancer Research UK. I hoped he’d be alive to see how much we’d raise. I hope he’s looking now.
The challenge is to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours. Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. 24.5 miles, 3064 metres ascent and 462 miles of road. My friends Gill Dobson and Andrea Kelly-Lansley will join me for Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Keith Robinson will do the night-time drive from Ben Nevis to Scafell.
Bill’s grandson Billy is doing his own Wee Peak Challenge - to climb his first hill, Dumgoyne. You can sponsor Billy on his own fundraising page.
We received an amazing £1000 at Bill’s funeral for Marie Curie Hospice who cared for him in his final days. We’d like to raise the same for Cancer Research UK to help win the fight against cancer. I hope you can help. Thanks to so many generous donations we are way ahead of our target - thanks so much - no stopping now!
