Story
To hell and back again...
Tears, laughs, tantrums, blisters, walking, walking, walking... and more walking!
61.5 miles in 17.5 hours! Some achivement! Not the original 85 miles we had hoped for, but blisters with the size of tennis balls from about 13 miles in, an ambulance at the end, much pain suffering and hobbling afterwards - we think we gave it our best shot!
Thank you all so much for your donations and support.
Big thanks as follows:
- Mark and Ben - for keeping us fed, watered and sane throughout the walk!
- Sarah and Andy (CustomKit) - for our fantastic kit! We had all the gear, just unfortunately no idea!
- Michelle and Sam - for housing us for the weekend and giving us a target to chase!
- All of you lovely people who have sponsored us and helped us to raise money for Alzheimers society!

"85 miles in 24 hours, how hard can it be?" As we have come to realise - very hard!
In an attempt to complete a new achievement, Eleanor and Lydia intend to hike the 85 mile 'Parish walk' around the Isle of Man (El's second home!) in the 24 hour deadline on the 25th June 2011. That means no sleep, eating whilst walking and averaging a 4 mile an hour pace throughout the entire walk! It is the equivalent to walking from Manchester to Birmingham in just 24 hours.
However, Lydia and Eleanor have not been taking the walk lightly, training 2/3 times a week for the past few months - and they have the blisters to prove it!
On a serious note, we are both completing this walk in aid of Alzheimer's Society, in the hope that one day there will be a cure for Alzheimers and Dementia sufferors. We both have grandparents who suffer from the disease and have experienced the devastating effect it can have. Therefore we would greatly appreciate any contribution you can make.
Completing the whole 85 miles will no doubt be a challenge and we sincerely hope we have the will power to suceed.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
