Story

Im running the Windsor lakeside half marathon on the 13th October 2019 for the incredible Jack Jeffreys Superhero Trust and Grooms minds!

ALL MONEY RAISED IS GOING TO -
https://jackjeffreyssuperherotrust.com/

My aim is to raise £500 for Jack Jeffery's and to raise awareness for grooms minds!

A little information of the amazing Jack Jeffreys Superhero Trust founders by Jacks wonderful parents Katie and Grant Jeffreys, a trust which is doing such incredible things for children battling with there illnesses and deserve all the suport they can get! -

The trust was created in memory of Jack who was diagnosed on the 7th August 2017 with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. His treatment included 10 rounds of chemotherapy, high dose chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant, radiotherapy. Sadly, before he started the immunotherapy, he developed a secondary tumour which he began a new course of chemotherapy for. He fought so bravely but the treatment did not work and there was nothing more that could be done.
Jack gained his angel wings on Saturday 21st July 2018 just 10 days before his 5th birthday. They all felt very strongly that this would not be the end and vowed to carry on a legacy for Jack to keep his name and memory alive. And so came the Jack Jeffreys Superhero Trust. The Trust, supported by The Bradley Lowery Foundation, will raise funds to help children with cancer and other life threatening/limiting illnesses in the form of different projects in and out of hospital.
This will be things such as a day at the football in Jacks VIP box and providing gifts for children in hospital and many other ideas.

- This was a very impotent charity i decided to choose to raise money for when doing my half marathon due to previously working with children who have illnesses and learning difficulties, even with all the problems they have they always seem to have a smile on there face, they are such fighters and every single one of them are an inspiration to me, how we moan about such simple things, make excuses not to do things and take life for granted when there's children and adults out there fighting for there lives but you never seem to hear them moan...

A little information on grooms minds a very personal and important cause for me for grooms battling with mental health -
Grooms Minds is an online resource dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of grooms. There telephone helpline offers a lifeline to you if you are having challenges within the workplace or life in general, for example bullying, or are feeling low and unhappy. It is completely confidential and is provided by a caring fully trained team of people.

- This is my story which is very hard for me to share as I'm the sort of person not to open up and keep everything in but if it helps people going through the same situation or similar as what I have been through then im glad I have shared my experience, this is why grooms minds is important to me and i really want to raise awareness for this very important cause.
I always wanted to work with horses after very luckily always having my own, I started working for a lady who bred her own horses and wanted to sell them this was when I was still at school and started working when i was 14 bringing on and selling her horses for her even though i kept a few of them! As soon as I left school I started working on yards completing my level two apprenticeship and i have almost finished my level three along with having yard jobs at the weekend. The whole time me working on the yards full time/part time riding/lunging/mucking out ect all day on my feet, i would before work getting up at 4.30am riding/mucking out my four horses, finishing my day at 8.30pm riding /mucking out and gardening for my other job, it was knackering. I had very little energy, I never had time to eat and it turned into a eating disorder which I have recovered from now, I have had kidney problems from not drinking, even though I was so tired I still couldn't sleep I always felt on edge and could never sit down, I felt if someone caught me sitting down I thought they thought I was really lazy and I would never have a day off & on the day i was meant to have off i would go out to shows as that's what i loved doing but I was drained. Don't get me wrong i have loved working in the different yards I have worked in and I have learnt so much! I feel very lucky to of worked in the yards i worked in as I know by some of my friends experiences they have been bullied/screamed at/ not enough staff and too many horses which meant being over worked/not getting paid ect. Over working lead to me becoming very ill, which wasn't anyone's fault but myself as I felt that when i worked so hard my mind was on the job and I didnt have time to worry so I would just never stop working. This led to fainting, falling asleep whilst driving and almost having a bad accident, depression, eating disorders, being very emotional, no motivation, panic attacks, hair falling out, constant nose bleeds, vomiting and constantly worrying. I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to set my own yard up and business from home to do liveries, competing, working with my mum as she does breaking in/backing young horses but for a long time I felt like i didn't deserve to have my own yard from home as this is what people dream off and they would never have the opportunity like I have had, I felt spoilt but even though i was so grateful and I have paid for the stables, the school and even got planning for the school my self but still felt like I didn't deserve it, it wasn't till I have been on medication and the help from my amazing friends and family supporting me they have told me I have worked so hard for what I have got i thoroughly deserve it! I know groom's who have also struggled so have given up horses all together but if they had known about groom's minds I know it would of also of helped them.

Anyone else who is going through or has been through similar experiences as to me please don't feel like your alone, i felt like i was never going to make it but i most certainly have! Please don't hesitate to message me any questions or if you just want someone to talk to im more then happy to help and listen and so are grooms minds that's why they are so amazing at what they do!
