Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am fundraising for Against Breast Cancer in memory of my dear sister Janet.
Against Breast Cancer funds groundbreaking cancer research into secondary spread breast cancer. Secondary spread, or metastasis, is currently an incurable condition which claims the lives of nearly 12,000 breast cancer patients (both men and women) each year in the UK and is the main cause of breast cancer-related deaths. Their vision is a future free from breast cancer.
Jan was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer 19 months ago, despite initially undergoing a mastectomy, numerous cycles of chemotherapy and targeted therapy, Jan received news that the cancer had spread, or metastasis to her bones and liver which was devastating, it was terminal, an incurable condition, nevertheless Jan being a real trooper battled on (even through her other numerous disabilities) she endured further palliative chemotherapy and more gruelling treatments, then in August 2022 Jan received the dreaded confirmation, which she suspected, that the secondary cancers had spread into her brain too, it was extremely aggressive and her prognosis was very poor, she was told she had 3 months to live! Frightened and overwhelmed Jan opted in September to have radiotherapy in an attempt to keep her mental capacity for as long as possible, but sadly Jan lost her fight against cancer two weeks later. It was heart breaking watching my sister succumb to cancer knowing there was nothing I could do, this deadly disease robbed me of the sister I knew and loved, the cancer caused Jan so much pain and suffering, it ravaged her body and mind relentlessly right up until her final day until she passed away.
Against Breast Cancer needs vital funding into their research to address the challenges posed in the metastatic breast cancer field in the hope it will increase the survival rate of all breast cancer patients, and to one day find the holy grail, a vaccine.
I thank you sincerely in advance of your support especially during these financially difficult and challenging times we are all facing, even if you can only spare a few pounds, every penny counts that can be invested in new cancer research, it will be greatly received and will be very much appreciated by Against Breast Cancer.
Those who know me won't be surprised I've booked another 15000ft skydive on 2 June 2023, Jan knew I would book another jump in her memory knowing what a self-confessed adrenaline junkie I am:)
R.I.P. Jan, love you to the moon and back xx and from "Sausage" xx
