Story
Hello from the EiTs (Evangelists-in-Training)
We are training to be evangelists with Church Army and this usually involves spending a training weekend in Sheffield every 2 months. For obvious COVID related reasons we can’t do this at the moment so we’ve decided between us to walk the distance we would usually travel between Monday 25th May and Wednesday 15th July (the time in between 2 training weekends)
We’re doing this to start conversations about why we are training and what kind of things that involves (very different for each one of us!)
Church Army is a mission community within the Anglican Church with a vision for everyone, everywhere to encounter God's love and be empowered to transform their communities through faith shared in words and action.
We are:
Generous
Risk-taking
Accountable
Collaborative
Expectant
Unconditional
Prayerful
We are also doing this to raise vital funds to help pay for our training and the amazing work Church Army does. Many Church Army employees are classed as frontline workers during this crisis and I know all the EiTs are doing their bit to make sure the most vulnerable in our society have food, other essentials and are not alone during this time. There have been so many amazing projects springing up to respond to this crisis and no doubt there are more coming as we adjust to the new ‘normal’.
So, back to the challenge! We travel a collective 5314km or 3302 miles every training weekend (just one way!) so this is the distance we are going to walk/run between us. We would love to raise £1 for every km we cover making our total target £5314! If you can donate any small amount towards that goal we would so appreciate it. If you can’t afford to/not able to at this time then please cheer us on and spread the word so we can reach as many people as possible!
Finally, thank you so much for reading and God bless!
The EiTs and training team 😊
