Story
Edward was President of the Isle of Wight's branch of the Save the Children in the 1970s, and proudly hosted a major fundraising event at Carisbrooke Castle, attended by the charity's patron, HRH The Princess Anne, in 1978.
Edward himself knew abject poverty and chronic hunger as a child, growing up in pre-war rural Italy without a father. As he looks back on his hundred years, and recalls those difficult times in the 1920s and 1930s, the fantastic work of Save the Children remains close to his heart.
Edward doesn't need a gift for his birthday, but the world's less fortunate children do. Your donation, big or small, will mean so much to him.
Thank you for celebrating Edward's birthday with us!
