Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In a moment of madness, when the third lockdown was announced, I decided to try and beat the post-Christmas blues and set myself a target of running 5 kilometres a day. Despite nobody knowing how long this lockdown would last and the fact I'm a relative beginner, it initially seemed like a fantastic idea. However, I quickly realised I was completely out of my depth. After only my second run, my legs went to jelly and I had to resort to crawling on all fours just to get up a set of stairs! Nearly two weeks in and with no end in sight, it now seems like the time to turn my naivety into raising some money for a good cause.
Westbank Community Health and Care are a local charity that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the local community, across Devon and beyond. Having previously helped to care for my grandparents in the later years of their lives, I am particularly passionate about the support they provide for the elderly and vulnerable. By delivering hot meals, collecting shopping, picking up prescriptions and bringing people home after being discharged from hospital, they are ensuring the most vulnerable have everything they need in these difficult times.
For those of you interested, you'll be able to follow my progress on Strava. Part of this is to take myself completely out of my comfort zone. Therefore, if you have any suggestions, such as different routes, challenges or fancy dress-ideas, then I would love to hear them!
