Fundraising for LUPUS UK
My beautiful wife Susie died on 15th December 2013. She had been diagnosed with lupus in 2007. Lupus is a disease where the immune system becomes over-active. It is a chronic disease which affects one or many tissues of the body; skin, joints, muscles, blood vessels, blood cells, organs, brain and nerves etc. Inflammatory and immune responses account for many of the symptoms observed in lupus. Due to its many varied and often invisible symptoms, lupus can be very difficult to diagnose. It currently takes an average of 7 years for a patient to reach diagnosis.
LUPUS UK is the only national registered charity supporting people with systemic lupus and discoid lupus and assisting those approaching diagnosis. We presently have over 6000 Members and a number of Regional Groups around the UK who arrange medical talks, publish local newsletters, set up local occasions and organise fundraising events. LUPUS UK also produces an informative national magazine with lupus articles, letters, reports, and photographs, and operates a strong Grant Programme for research purposes and welfare.
