Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Eddie's remembrance JustGiving page.
Eddie passed away on the 14th October 2020 after an 18-year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL), considerably longer than the average life expectancy following diagnosis. Eddie became extremely knowledgable in regard to his disease, but he did not let it define him, continuing to work at the University and living life to the full.
Over the years, Eddie was an active member of the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia Support Association (CLLSA), contributing to activities whilst also benefiting from their support. His wish was to enable the valuable work the charity provides to continue.
CLLSA run regular meetings where patients, their families and supporters can gain expert advice from guest speakers. During these meetings, patients and carers offer support to each other through education and access to reliable, relevant and current information.
They are the only UK charity which is specifically for people with CLL - the most common type of Leukaemia in adults. All of the charity's trustees have CLL or are carers to others with CLL. They all give their time voluntarily to help other patients and carers.
Due to the current COVID restrictions, it is with regret that Eddie's funeral will be limited to close family only. We therefore ask anyone wishing to donate to do so via this page. All donations will go directly to the CLLSA.
Eddie's family would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff at The Priory Hospital in Edgbaston. He received excellent care, compassion and support over the years, enabling him to overcome the many hurdles he encountered. Special thanks to Eddie's Haematologist, Prem, for her unwavering dedication and care.
Please help us to raise as much money as possible for the CLLSA in remembrance of Eddie.
Lots of love,
Wendy, Andy & William
