Story
I am looking to raise money for charity through a two-month 4000 km cycle expedition, Pedal Africa.
The trip traverses sub-Saharan Africa, east to west, starting from Beira in Mozambique, through Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and finally ending at Walvis Bay in Namibia. With the challenge posed by the varying terrain and the climate, this will push the whole team to our physical and mental limits.
Currently a student at the University of St Andrews and with an international background (having lived in the Czech Republic and Hong Kong), I am taking part in this challenge due to my love of travel and an insatiable curiosity. These factors and the satisfaction from having previously completed a charity cycle ride in 2008, drew me to the St Andrews' Adventure Group (STAAG) and the charity event for Summer 2012. The money you help us raise will go towards One Water of the One Foundation, which funds clean water projects in some of the poorest parts of the world, as well as the University of St Andrews Charities Campaign of which donations will go towards a variety of reputable charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support.
We will also be stopping at each of the One Water projects en route in order to witness the benefits they bring to thousands of people every year. Photographs will be sent after the trip to highlight the valuable work being done. For more information please visit our website at www.st-andrews.ac.uk/pedalafrica
So please, any support, no matter how big or small, would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed Bennett
