Story
Finished the marathon in 3:28:49 inside my goal of 3:30. Brilliant day!! Updated blog post with photos from the day, and winners of the guess the time / fastest mile competition to come.
Update on my last long run (15 miles), with 14 days to go to the London Marathon can be found on my blog.
Note I am also fundraising for the London Marathon for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
I am running the London Marathon on April 17th 2011 in aid of Help the Hospices. We all know someone who has been terminally ill who along with their family has received the best care and support possible from a hospice.
Previously I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the hospices (October 2010), and I nearly passed out at the end.... (hot day, and I went out too fast, and didnt drink enough during the race). I completed it in 1:35:26
Hoping that I have learned my lesson from that race - I have decided to step it up and do the London Marathon on April 17th 2011. I have a target time of 3:30 - but if I get around the course I'll be happy. I'm a little behind in my training (did my first run over 8 miles in February!!), but am confident I'm up to the challenge.
I'll give some updates here on how the training goes over the next few months....March will be the tough month - so I'll be taking in a few 6 nations games, and a trip snowboarding in February.
So please dig deep for this very worthwhile cause.. Please give whatever you can from £2 (minimum donation on the justgiving system)
Your support and donations are much appreciated.
Eamonn
