Story
English Symphony Orchestra's Youth section (ESO Youth) are continuing to provide musical opportunities to hundreds of children and young people of all ages and abilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All our projects are open to any young musicians who would like to keep their instrumental playing going! We feel that the mental health of children and young people is so important, especially during the current period, and by interacting and taking part in different projects we hope that we can do our little bit to contribute to their wellbeing.
It is FREE to take part - we appreciate that times are hard for many families at the moment.
However, if you are in a position to make a contribution (however small!), this will contribute greatly towards not only helping ESO Youth activities to continue, but for the English Symphony Orchestra to survive this period and be able to continue our work in the community, including at care homes and hospices, when we are 'back'. Like many arts organisations, the ESO have been hit hard by cancellation of concerts and festivals which have been devastating for both the musicians and the orchestra. Thank you for your support.
ESO Youth Project 1 - musicians of the Beginners, Intermediate and Youth Orchestras were due to perform at the RHS Malvern Spring Show and The Elgar Festival in May. Our wonderful musicians have recorded their parts and a 'performance' will be released the week beginning 11th May. We are excited to bring you two pieces from BBC Ten Pieces.

Hans Zimmer's 'Earth' performance will take place on Saturday 20th June at 6pm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSlyAZnkk08&feature=youtu.be
ESO Youth Project 2 - Brahms! Our Youth level musicians (grade 7+) are in the process of working hard to learn their parts. They will be receiving sectional tuition from the principal players of the ESO. Our virtual rehearsals will not only be a fantastic opportunity to work with some of the top musicians in the country, but to be able to 'see' their peers online and work together!
ESO Youth Project 3 - Summer Projects in July/August. Details TBC.
