Story
This year i am going to be running the Great North Run, in support of NETA (North East Trust for Aphasia). This charity provides incredible support for those who experience aphasia following a stroke or brain injury. It is also based in the Aphasia Centre at Newcastle University where i carried out my SLT training.
Aphasia is a language disorder which can affect speaking or understanding language. This disorder affects 1/3 of those who experience a stroke. Not only does aphasia affect the individual it also has a great impact on friends and family of those suffering.
Setting myself this challenge was something i vowed to do while living in Newcastle, seeing as COVID let me off the hook by postponing it last year ... now it's time to go again. I am also dragging my Brother Tommy around all 13 miles with me, so please make this worthwhile for us and NETA, because it isn't going to be easy.
