We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Three years ago a very special dog came into my daughter, Rachael's life, Saffron, a golden Lab/retriever.

Rachael had lost most of her vision due to a brain tumour and relied on family to help her get around and take her to places she wanted to go to. She had little self confidence and going out, especially in crowds, was very scary and mentally exhausting for her.

In 2012 Rachael's life changed when she was paired with Guide dog Saffron. She was now able to go out on her own for the first time in years and her confidence just grew and grew.

Guide dogs are life changing for people like Rachael who have lost all or part of their vision.

Without the Guide Dogs charity we wouldn't have the confident independent young woman we have today.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
