Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
Water Aid is a charity which aims to bring low cost clean water and sanitation to developing countries. To put their work in context:
At the start of the 21st century, 5,000 children die every day for want of clean water.
In the last financial year Water Aid helped over 760,000 people gain assess to a safe, clean water supply and over one million people gain access to sanitation.
In order to show our support, and raise funds, for the work of Water Aid a number of staff from Environment & Heritage Service (Northern Ireland) are undertaking the Four Peaks Challenge, where we will attempt to climb the highest peaks in each of the four Irish provinces over the course of three days (Saturday 26th May to Monday 28th May). The peaks in question are:
- Connaght - Mweelrea ( Co. Mayo): 2,688 ft;
- Leinster - Lugnaquilla ( Co. Wicklow): 3,039 ft;
- Munster - Carrauntoohil ( Co. Kerry): 3,414 ft; and
- Ulster - Slieve Donard ( Co. Down): 2,796 ft.
Please dig deep and sponsor us online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: WaterAid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
