Story

Hi guys,

Thankyou for taking the time to read this.

My name is Peter Hobbes, and I am proud to call myself the uncle of the bravest boy that ever lived, Dylan Jarvest Hobbes.

Dylan was born with a Mitochondrial disease that caused him increasing discomfort and progressive debilitation. He had spent a lifetime in and out of hospitals, battling for the hope of some sort of normal life.

Things took a turn for the worse in November 2021 when Dylan was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties, with 1 of his lungs collapsing and the other with restricted function, we were made aware that Dylan was unlikely to breath under his own power again.

6 months later, Dylan had shocked everybody by being released from hospital and spending long periods without his breathing apparatus. So much so that he managed to make a late rally to take his GCSE’s and we celebrated his 16th birthday with the great news that he would be heading to Reading College soon.

Dylan did manage to briefly begin college, even joining a debate team, and he absolutely loved it.

Sadly it wasn’t long before the breathing issues began to take influence once again, an attempt to administer assisted breathing by the ambulance service caused Dylan to enter cardiac arrest and after a few day spent on life support, he had finally left us.

Despite the horrifically unfair hand that Dylan was dealt, he was the kindest and most thoughtful boy, brave beyond belief and the strongest person I’ve ever known.

In passing he saved a young girls life with his organ donations, a hero in life and in the after life, it is our duty as a family to ensure that his selfless acts continue to help people.

That’s why we are here, The Helen Douglas House is a children’s hospice in Oxford to support terminally ill children and their families. A more deserving cause you will not find.

Why a car show? Dylan had planned to come and work with me at GP Customs & Classics when he finished at school, truthfully, I had always hoped he would find something better and I believe he would have done but it was always going to be here for him if needed and it would have been a pleasure.

To add to that, this weekend will be Dylan’s birthday and it gives my family something positive to look forward to, perhaps we can celebrate the day rather than be devoured by it.

The intention is to get as many special cars in attendance as possible, this year we will have the capacity for approx 190 cars on display with each making a donation to do so. If you have something you would like to display, please contact us via

We are also receiving car themed donations for an auction and a raffle on the day with more details to be revealed as we get closer,. There will be refreshments available which will also contribute towards the charity.

In summary, we hope to have a great day with some lovely cars on display whilst raising money for a fantastic cause, we hope to see you there!
