Story
Duncan James Sadler
8 February 1959 - 26 June 2022
On 26 June 2022, Duncan lost his courageous battle with bowel cancer. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, niece and nephews and their families, as well as friends far and wide.
Duncan was a gentle, sociable, witty man who enriched all of our lives beyond measure. He was a keen observer and voracious reader with an astounding memory. He loved chatting to everyone and once he knew you were interested in something, he'd find out all he could and file away an astonishing array of facts, newspaper cuttings and book/film recommendations to share with you. Duncan's own main passions, however, were classic cars and historic aircraft. In particular, what he didn't know about Avro Lancasters and Vulcans wasn't worth knowing!
It is fitting, therefore, that he wished donations in his memory to be made to the Vulcan to the Sky Trust. The charity, which meant so much to him, successfully restored and returned to flight Vulcan XH558, and now works tirelessly to fundraise for its long term preservation and to enable visitors to see and learn about these remarkable aircraft. Anything you might be able to give to support the Trust would help more people in future share Duncan's great passion and knowledge - a fitting tribute to the life of our family's biggest history buff.
Thank you for being a part of Duncan's life - whether through home, work, his social clubs or shared interests. We will miss him dreadfully, and would love to read about any memories of him you'd like to share.
Love,
The Sadlers, McWilliams and Powells
