Story
Poole Africa Link continues to support a new University Hospital and are now working more closely with the Government Hospital n Lira Uganda. They are struggling to provide modern day care with the costs of equipment. During covid we sent them PPE made in Kampala, Oxygen concentrators and hand washing stands. We teach them what they can do within their financial constraints.
We Keep visiting and have seen the benefits of our teaching and donations so far. On our last trip we taught them how to use CPAP for newborns who are struggling to breath. Much of the cost of the machine was raised from an amazing donation from a mum whose baby had CPAP in Poole We also bought a second hand defibrillator. We will be checking on the CPAP and providing more defibrillator training. Along with further developing drug charts observation charts and the importance of acting upon results. Our focus with be helping to manage their emergency department, with all the above interventions and adding ultrasound. (Gary cumberbatch, ED Consultant is coming for his first, of hopefully many visits)
