Story
In May this year I am doing the Snowdonia Slateman triathlon for Alzheimer’s society with two of my Brothers-In-Law, George and Rich to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society in memory of my late Granddad who passed away 10 years ago and George's Dad, John Beard only last year. My Pops suffered from dementia and I had to watch this great man deteriorate from the Artist, Poet and Comedian that he was to a shell of his former self over the course of a couple of years. For my 30th birthday the Nurses in the old people’s home helped my Pops make a birthday card for me which resembled something a primary school child would make, this broke my heart knowing what a great Artist my Pops was before the disease took hold. My Pops inspired me to become an Artist and he probably had something to do with my cheeky sense of humour too, although I do think the poetry went to my cousins :-) I am hoping to raise money to help the Alzheimer’s society beat this terrible disease as no one should have to watch their loved ones slip away before their eyes like this. Any small donation would be appreciated and I am grateful if you have even read this far :-)
This degenerating disease causes so much pain for the families of those affected as we have to watch while our loved ones become more and more distant every day. I hope your donation can help us take one more step towards a cure.
