Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have never done anything like this before and find getting in the car easier than putting on walking boots. However, I spend a lot of time working for Rotary charities and decided to help the local charity Positive Action on Cancer (PAC) by taking on this massive challenge and adventure. I could have walked the Brecon Beacons but where's the challenge in that? No, my training programme has started and I am looking forward to meeting this new challenge head on. Yes, I will probably fall off the wall at some point but I can get up and carry on.
This challenge involves five days of trekking, one of these being up to nine hours long and one including conquering the 1000 steps that make up the Heavenly Ladder!! I will be almost 69 when I undertake this adventure and I am not known for being the most physically active person there is. I also don't like heights. So this is quite an undertaking for me to commit to!
PAC is a charity that works across Wiltshire and Somerset providing counselling to adults, young people or children affected or bereaved by life threatening illnesses, such as cancer. They help relieve the emotional challenges faced by patients, their families and carers and those who have been bereaved. It costs £33 to provide each counselling session and in this, their 21st year, they are seeing an unprecedented demand for their services. Therefore, I really want to raise as much money as possible for this cause.
If you have been kind enough to donate then thank you. I won't let you down.
