Fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation
My dad (Jason) was born 21/03/72. He was taken away from us of pnuemococcal meningitis and septicaemia. He left behind a wife and 5 children between the age of 22 and 9 years of age.
He only had flu like symptoms where from there they progressed and he became sensitive to light which we did not know was a symptom of meningitis. At the age of 41 it is unusual for a person to die of meningitis. So when the ambulance was called in the very early hours we didn't know that 24 hours later my dad would be cruelly taken away from us. He was kept in a coma and paralysed until they took him off the medication so they could bring him around and wake him up from the coma, unfortunately he wasnt to wake up, his scans showed how his brain had swollen and pushed the fluid out. This horrible disease caused my dad to be brain dead on the 20 days before his 42nd birthday. 13 weeks later and updating this my heart still breaks, it hurts a lot and he is missed so much. A day doesnt go by where i wished i had my dad to see us all still grow up.
He was a donor and helped four other people to live when sadly he could no longer due to the infection in his brain. We want to carry on the good will and help raise funds for the charity to further medical research into different forms of meningitis and develop medical treatment for it. We are trying to raise as much funds as possible over different events starting off with a fete to raise lots of money and then the skydive will take place where my sister , mom and uncle will be jumping 15,000ft out the sky. We will be thinking of different events in the meantime to help raise more money.
Dad was a man of many talents and was always up for a laugh, he was always helping others. He loved his cars and also petrol cars, he was like a big kid in reality where he would have fun with the kids, but he was always proud of us for what we achieved up to now. My dads friend is doing a 26mile trek around London to raise funds for meningitis research foundation too. So please give, even just a little bit of money as every little helps!
thankyou
miss you dad. 21/03/72-01/03/14 ly x
