We did it and thanks to everyone's support and donations we smashed our target for the Christie. 1hr 1min 15s cheers
Wow I'm overwhelmed right now. We've hit our fundraising target and I can't thank everyone enough who has donated. Thank you to the anonymous donation to get us to target too, don't know who you are but thank you so much! We have just under a month to go before the big day so we're not stopping there. We've hit target so any other donations on top of this would be the ultimate icing on the cake. Thank you xx
After 20 long years battling against lymphoma, strokes, diabetes, ovarian cancer, brain tumours, loss of hearing and sight my mum in April 2013 was diagnosed with breast cancer and vascular dementia within the same 2 weeks. Taking this news in her stride, as she has always done my mum carried on, not allowing her illnesses to get the better of her.
In September 2015 we received the devastated news that mums breast cancer was terminal. Mum underwent palliative radiotherapy for 2 weeks at the Christie at the end of October beginning of November. She found it extremely tough and gruelling, but was determined to get through it and ring that bell! However, mum became very unwell on her last session at the Christie. The Christie saved her life that night and gave my mum a fighting chance. Mum spent 2 weeks in Wythenshawe hospital, but despite the brilliant care she received mum was not getting better due to pneumonia taking hold.
My beautiful, courageous and simply amazing mum gained her angel wings on Tuesday 24th November 2015 in her own home, surrounded by love, comfort and lots of affection. I was proud to be with her all the way and know she is with me every day. She bravely faced her passing as she has done facing her illness, no complaints and with a strength and determination unlike no other. I will never forget our one true fighter and I beam with pride and great sadness at the same time when ever I think about her!
I set up a small running group 'Running 4 Mum' as I wanted to focus on something to help me on the loss of my mum at the same time as raising money in her memory!
Myself and Kelly would like to thank you for your support which we both know will get us over that finish line for my mum - Janet Vinten!!
Love You Mum x
