Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was inspired to raise money for Barts Charity after my mother was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in March 2012 . The day after she was diagnosed she was transferred to St Barts to start an intensive chemotherapy programme.Throughout Mums treatment at Barts we as a family could not fault the care and treatment my Mum received. We appreciate that without the specialist treatment my mother received at Barts she may not have been with me today to watch me complete my first marathon.Any money raised will go towards pioneering new treatments and care for all types of blood cancer at Barts ( lymphomas, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and myeloma, acute and chronic myeloid leukaemia s and myelodysplasia)this will be supporting the work of Professor John Gribben who is based at St.Barts.
Sadly after completing The London marathon in 2014 my mother was then diagnosed with cancer in the bone marrow during a routine check in March 2015 whilst awaiting for a bone marrow transplant she developed leukaemia , after gruelling treatment she was allowed home for a short period in August 2015 on September 7th she collapsed at home and went back into Barts where she was diagnosed with Sepsis devastatingly for us all she lost her very brave fight on October 6th . The last 14 months have been a very difficult time adjusting without Mum , Wife , Nan, Sister , Auntie but I made a promise to myself for Mum that I would run the marathon again and fundraise for Barts and make my mum proud .Please give a little and help me to to achieve this for My mum
