Story
After several years of deliberation, I’ve finally plucked up the courage (and had the good fortune) to secure a place on the 2024 London Marathon. On 21st April I’m taking on the huge responsibility, and privilege, to run and raise money for an outstanding and most worthy cause - the Teenage Cancer Trust.
As for so many people these days, each passing year of my life has been, sadly, more and more touched by the impacts of cancer. It’s devastating.
Every day seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”.
These formative years help shape the person you become. They should be carefree and full of hope. As an uncle to 8 nieces and nephews, it’s impossible for me to imagine how much a Cancer diagnosis would turn our families lives upside down. Yet so many go through this every day.
TCT are the only UK charity dedicated to delivering specialised nursing care and support for these young people – so no one faces cancer alone. They make sure young people always have someone in their corner, right from the start. Someone to talk to, to lean on, and to confide in.
For my small part, I’ve committed to raise £2,500 for this vital cause, and I’m going to push as hard as I can to surpass that. Your generosity, as much as you can spare, will have a lasting impact on the lives of these incredible children.
Thanks again for reaching the bottom of this message, and I really hope you’re able to donate. Every donation, no matter the size, is so very appreciated.
Wish me luck and see you at the finish line,
Don
