Story
Eileen Fitzgerald and I (Steve McDonagh) (and a few other danderers) will be walking the 26 miles of the Moyle Way on the 19th August 2011 and we would really like you to help use raise some £'s, $'s and €'s for the Disasters Emergency Committee's work helping the current drought and famine in East Africa.
The Disasters Emergency Commitee (DEC) was formed in 1963 and is an umbrella organisation for 14 humanitarian aid agencies who at the minute are fighting bravely to stem the flow of suffering in East Africa where 10 million people are at risk from the worst drought in 60 years.People are dying NOW in Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Southern Sudan.
Please please please, dig deep and give Eileen and me (and the other Dominio danderers) what ever you can and you will be helping to provide life saving aid such as food, water, support for malnourished children and medical care.
We are walking because we enjoy walking, at the end of our walk no one will have died, we will not have buried a wife, mother, son or daughter at the edge of the road, we will have our sandwiches and plenty of water, we will have adequate footware and clothes, we will end an enjoyable day with a few pints and a nice meal.
There are those walking the roads of East Africa right now who will have died as you read this.
Please help us raise some cash, every penny counts!
Steve and Eileen
