In 2016 running became my therapy
My special friend Emma introduced me to our local running club which at first was very daunting but soon became my passion. I began to realise that running was so much more than just exercise.
I use running primarily to bolster my mental health. Like all runners, we relish the short-term experience of finishing our run feeling like we’ve hit reset and can better handle the rest of the day.
Since running, I have also been fortunate to meet some inspirational people including a lady called Rebecca Watts. Rebecca lost her son Alex, aged 13 in 2017 to a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, a fast growing aggressive brain tumour
CLIC Sargent were the nursing staff and support team who looked after Alex from the moment he was diagnosed right up to and beyond his final day.
Rebecca and her family now run for their therapy and with the support of other running friends enter lots of events to raise money for this incredible charity.
Rebecca’s story really touched my heart and it made me want to help too so Clic Sargent can continue providing vital support for other children and young people with cancer.
I have set myself my biggest challenge so far and I’m going to run the London Marathon 2019. I am determined to achieve this and fundraise as much as I can for CLIC Sargent 💜
