Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Far too many people I know and love have been affected by cancer in one way or another. North West Cancer Research is a regional charity which funds research into cancer, its diagnosis and treatment. I have the pleasure of working with the gifted people who undertake this research, as well as the people who work tirelessly to fundraise for the cause. So much has been accomplished, however there is a lot more research that has to be done. And it's an expensive exercise!
When I lost my sister last year, I was determined to do something to contribute financially to cancer research. Unfortunately, my marathon training never really began, so when this opportunity came up, I "jumped" at the chance. I am doing this for the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, children and friends we have all lost. I am doing this for the strong, inspirational people in my life who are currently being treated for cancer. And I'm doing this for my beautiful sister, Adrienne, who I think of every day and who I will miss forever.
Since agreeing to do the skydive, we have lost another family member to this disease - Christine Howells. Chris was the aunt that everyone should have. She was warm, kind, thoughtful, generous and a hell of a lot of fun! She had a 4 and a half year battle with cancer but through it all, she remained pretty much the same; still finding time to be there for everyone else and supporting us as best she could.
My favourite memories of Chris involve family occasions and it’s so fitting that the last time I saw her was at the wedding of Peter (my brother in law) and Emma. Even though Chris was David’s aunt, from the moment I met her, I felt included in her family and I’ll always be grateful that she was a part of my life, and my boys’ lives too.
I cannot thank you enough for your support! Every donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.
